This print was inspired by the complex and highly geometric patterns found in Moroccan architecture and tile work.
Geometric tilework, called zellij, is one of the main fixtures of Moroccan architecture. The tiles are arranged together to form patterns of geometric shapes, which adorn walls, ceilings, fountains, floors, and many other surfaces. Due to their precise geometry, zellij studies require expertise in methematics, art, and engineering. Master craftsmen, called maâlems, begin their training during childhood to perfect the art of zellij.
